Manzoor Redwan Hashemi Foundation Foundation Foundation

About Us

For as long as anyone can remember, service, resources and the infrastructures in Afghanistan have been destroyed leaving Afghanistan as a byproduct of war. The war that’s been ongoing for decades has taken away from basic resources that are readily available elsewhere. These people are vulnerable to extreme lack of resources in all areas of life including health, food and education.   In Manzoor’s case, Asthma, which 1 in every 13 Americans has, result in his sudden death in Afghanistan.  Majority of these victims are young children.

Manzoor Redwan Hashemi Foundation, hereafter called [The Foundation] was founded and established in memory of late Manzoor Redwan Hashemi, a fifteen year San Diegan boy who lost his life in the Tsawkai district of the Kunar province in Afghanistan due to an extreme lack of basic healthcare resources. Redwan, alongside his family, travelled all the way from his home in San Diego, California to Kabul, Afghanistan to celebrate his older brother’s wedding. Following the wedding, he was on the journey to Kunar province, Afghanistan to visit some friends and extended family members. Upon his return with his family, he suddenly developed an unknown aversion which led to the trigger of his asthma caused in an asthma attack that took his life, as the healthcare facility was unavailable in many miles from the sight.

In an effort to positively cope with this sudden loss, and bring light to such a horrific, and traumatic event, the family decided to establish this foundation in remembrance of the compassionate, and empathetic Manzoor Redwan Hashemi. The objective of the foundation is to take advantage of this opportunity to provide a standard quality of service, in health, educational, and social services for the region true this foundation chartered under the memory of the late Manzoor Redwan.

Our fundamental Principles

To build an elementary school to provide education in a remote area of Afghanistan for 300+ students, and will have electricity and running water.  Staffed with teachers and a security guard on post 24 hours a day.  School sessions will be early mornings before the high heat temperatures.  These services will be provided using donations of cash, school supplies, books, computers, and backpacks, donated by the public.  The land is donated by the government in Afghanistan.  Construction is in the beginning stages and expected to be completed next summer, July 2022.

The Manzoor Redwan Hashemi Foundation funded the construction for a new elementary school in a remote area in Kabul, Afghanistan.  Construction began August 2021 and completed in July 2022.  The school has electricity, running water, faculty staff, and a 24/7 security guard.  We shipped computers, printers, electronics and tablets to the school for education.  We hosted a Grand Opening Celebration.  We welcomed 456 children with their parents, the children were so happy they laughed and danced around.  432 children enrolled and we gave each student a backpack, with school supplies.  We are working on bus transportation for some of the students who live miles away.  Most of them walk to school each day 4-5 mile round trip.

Our next project is to build a clinic, step down hospital in the same area as the school, as health and medical resources are not readily available.
